Territory and Ways of Knowing
Antonio del Giudice
This research looks at the way indigenous communities living in the northern regions of Chile, precisely Antofagasta and Tarapaca, face the continuous threat of losing their land due to the invasive presence of the mining industry on one hand, and a colonialist governmental attitude on the other. The proposal consists of a plan to envision the ways in which way the Atacama desert, its villages and the existing collective equipment could be temporarily or permanently reclaimed, in order to gain territorial autonomy, empower existing relationships and consolidate intergenerational links.
